Catching up

Wow it has been so long since I've posted. I don't even know where to start. Perhaps with what I'm knitting now.

These socks, called the Sock For All Seasons - Spring Sock by Capistrano Fiber Arts Studio are the 5th mailing of The Yarn Tree sock club. Admittedly, this is the first sock I've knit from the club, I've just been so backlogged on things to knit. The yarn is absolutely gorgeous, in spring colors and very spongy and soft. The pattern is a bit weird, though. It starts out with a lovely lace pattern on top, then has you knit 3 rows of garterstitch and then switches to ribbing on the instep and stockinette on the bottom. Maybe they look o.k. on but I decided to continue the lace pattern on through the instep. So, I eliminated the 3 rows of garterstitch before the heel and switched from a size 2 to a size 1 needle for the base of the foot but will keep knitting with a size 2 for the lace instep, as the lace on top was rather stretchy and maybe too loose to use size 2's for the entire foot. I also picked up 17 stitches vs. 15 on the sides of the heel flap to give me a bit extra room in the instep, since I have a very high instep and most socks tend to bind me there. I haven't really been able to try them on comfortably yet, but so far so good.
